Solstice

About this time every year, we gather to celebrate the winter solstice with family and friends. It's one of my favorite holiday traditions.

On the longest night of the year, we gather under the dark sky to celebrate light.

Sometimes our fate resembles a fruit tree in winter. Who would think that those branches would turn green again and blossom, but we hope it, we know it.
-Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.

  1. How wonderful! In the past two years we've started celebrating the solstice as well. It's so nice to have a holiday that doesn't revolve around presents and "stuff."

  2. I love that, too! It really is just a celebration of the cold and dark and bright and being together. My friends have been doing this forever and we look forward to it every year.
